Blackburn Single-Story Renovation
Scope of Work
Having outgrown their original home, our clients chose to renovate and extend rather than relocate. Working alongside the designer, Eltcon transformed the existing residence into a contemporary family home with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, generous open-plan living and a covered alfresco designed for everyday entertaining.
The Build
Behind the finished home was a complex renovation. Much of the original structure was stripped back, with the subfloor re-levelled and retained walls carefully adjusted before the new extension could be integrated. The result is a home that feels cohesive, with no distinction between old and new.
Project Highlights
- Four-bedroom family renovation and extension
- Open-plan kitchen, dining and living
- Covered alfresco entertaining area
- Custom curved timber island bench
- Large ensuite skylight
- Bespoke joinery and premium finishes
- Blackbutt timber flooring throughout
The tendering process as well as the support to get all the approvals from council was relatively seamless and very helpful.
Something that makes Eltcon stand out from the rest is that at the beginning of the project, Kyle met us at Harvey Norman and helped with selecting our fixtures and fittings. We were able to select the majority of our purchases in one go which we were thankful for.
We had a lot of upfront discussions that allowed us to make some tweaks to the original plans e.g. pushing the kitchen out which meant an overall design and better outcome.
In terms of workmanship, we do believe that Eltcon has done a tremendous job here. It is evident that as a company you take great pride in your work and it clearly comes through.
The home we now have exceeded our expectations and we are very pleased with the final outcome.
The builders were always very friendly and respectful when we had meetings or site visits and the site itself always appeared to be clean which meant the team respected our house.
Although the house was built during COVID times, we also very much appreciated the effort that went into not passing on additional costs (where possible) to us as well as trying to minimise the impact of time delays to the build.
In the most part, it always felt like Eltcon was trying to plan in advance around materials etc.
We would definitely recommend Eltcon to friends and family.
