This new home in Rye, Victoria transformed was built on a previously unused, steeply sloped plot of land.

Before we could lay the foundations for this build, we first had to relocate large volumes of soil and install an impressive retaining wall.

As for the design inspiration for this family home, the client wanted the home to reflect her Queensland roots, which was cleverly weaved throughout the design of this custom home. For example, the wooden screen on the entrance to the sauna entrance is based on the design of her father’s Queensland sauna and 45 degree down pipes were installed which are common in Queensland but less so in Victoria. The addition of these Queensland elements rendered a truly distinctive and one-of-a-kind haven.
